The Empowered Learning Center

Where neurodivergent kids, teens, and young adults discover what they’re capable of becoming.
JacobsLadder_ELC_Frontdesk.jpg
A life-skills learning environment where kids, teens, and young adults build confidence, independence, and real-world abilities through hands-on experiences. We welcome ages 5-25.

Why I'm Building The Center

Before the Empowered Learning Center was even a thought,     I spent years trying to find the right place for my son.

We tried public schools. Private schools. Charter schools.

Private teachers. Co-ops. Homeschooling. Microschools.

In total, Jacob went through 22 different school environments.

Every time, I explained the same things.

His diagnosis. His needs. His strengths.
My hopes. My fears.

And every time, I walked away feeling like the system simply didn’t know what to do with a child like him.

Some environments tried. Many didn’t understand.

And over time, I watched my son struggle in places that were never truly designed for him.

Eventually I reached a moment where I thought:

If the right place doesn’t exist… I’m going to build it.

The Empowered Learning Center is the place I wished Jacob had years ago.

A place where he can thrive.
A place where he can build confidence.
And most importantly, a place where he can have friends who understand him.

Because so many families walk this road quietly, believing they have no other options.

Now there is another option.

Learning Through Experience

The Empowered Learning Center doesn’t look like a traditional classroom.

Instead, participants move through a series of thoughtfully designed studios throughout the day.

Each studio focuses on a different part of life...creativity, emotional regulation, independence, social confidence, academics, and real-world skills.

Participants are supported by compassionate guides who help them practice life skills, explore their strengths, and build confidence at their own pace.

Because every participant learns differently.

And here, that’s exactly how it’s meant to be.

The Empowered Path

Each day, participants move through a series of studios designed to strengthen different parts of life.

Some studios build creativity.
Some build independence.
Some help regulate the nervous system.
Others help participants practice real-world environments.

Together, these experiences create The Empowered Path — a learning journey where participants build confidence step by step.

Every participant walks the Empowered Path at their own pace.

Is the Empowered Learning Center the Right Place?

Many families arrive here after realizing traditional environments simply weren’t designed for their child.

This space may feel like the right fit if your child or young adult:

• learns best through movement, creativity, and hands-on experiences
• benefits from smaller groups and compassionate guidance
• struggles in traditional classroom environments
• is ready to build confidence, independence, and real-world life skills

Our goal isn’t to make participants fit a system.

It’s to create an environment where they can discover their strengths and grow into who they are meant to be.

What Makes the Empowered Learning Center Different

Most learning environments are designed around one expectation:

That every child learns the same way.

For many neurodivergent and intellectually disabled individuals, that simply isn’t true.

The Empowered Learning Center was intentionally designed to be different.

Here, learning happens through movement, creativity, real-life experiences, and supportive guidance rather than sitting at a desk all day.

Participants move through studios that build confidence, independence, emotional regulation, and real-world life skills.

They are supported by compassionate guides who meet them where they are — not where a system expects them to be.

This environment isn’t about forcing participants into a mold.

It’s about creating a place where they can discover their strengths and build a life that works for them.
